Introducing RFC Systems
RFC Systems was founded in 1987 and is internationally recognized for its expertise in auction house systems design. RFC clients include the leading metropolitan and regional auction houses in the Americas, Europe, and Australia. In 2006 RFC Systems joined with Artfact, developer of the leading auction price database for fine and decorative arts. Founded in 1988, Artfact, now known as Invaluable, provides Internet database and search engine technology for auction houses and live online auction services. In 2007 Artfact acquired Invaluable.com, and in 2010 AuctionZip.com, forming the world’s largest auction house services company.
Rod Funston, founder of RFC Systems, has been designing and developing database applications for the fine art and antique auction house business since 1987. He has held positions as Comptroller for Phillips Auctioneers in New York in 1987-89, Director of Information Technologies for Bonhams Auctioneers in London in 1996-99, and Director of Auction House Services for ibidlive.com in 2000-2001. Rod is currently Executive Vice President, Auction House Systems for Invaluable.
Invaluable and RFC together provide fully integrated solutions that support a comprehensive auction house business plan extending the traditional auction house model onto the Internet. With systems designed by RFC Systems and Invaluable, auction houses can independently manage their auction sale administration, catalog publishing, e-commerce, live online bidding, and Internet marketing with seamless integration and great savings on time and resources. RFC Systems also provides seamless integration with all of Invaluable’s affiliated online marketing and live bidding platforms, including Invaluable.com, AuctionZip.com and Invaluable Connect.
RFC Auction Systems is a comprehensive library of specialized software that automates every aspect of running an auction house, including inventory control, catalog production, publishing, client relations, marketing, catalogue subscriptions, point-of-sale, accounting, e-commerce, image management and much more. RFC is able to tailor each installation and deliver a customized solution at a very reasonable cost. The systems can support multiple locations and remote site auction day operation. Fully translatable, the system is currently available in four languages and can be translated to suit each client’s distinct terminology.
Invaluable/RFC Powered Web Sites are e-commerce systems fully integrated with RFC auction house management systems, providing auction houses with the autonomous capability to publish auction schedules, catalogues, sale results on the Internet, and host live online auctions. The system can be embedded into existing web sites or be the basis for a newly developed website, for which Invaluable/RFC can provide additional design services.
